One family, private players

Getting started

A grown-up creates the family account. Each child then gets a private player sign-in that works on their devices without exposing whether another player's name exists.

Which of the three doors should I use?

Player Login

Use this for the child who is going to play. Choose it when the player has signed in before, or when a grown-up has just given them a private sign-in name and one-time setup phrase. Returning players use their password; first setup uses the setup phrase. Do not create another family account for a child who already has setup details.

Start a New Family

Use this once, when your household has no ONZU family account yet. A grown-up verifies their email, chooses the grown-up password and creates the family. They can then add the first child and hand that player their private setup details.

Grown-Up Login

Use this when the family account already exists and an adult needs to manage it. Sign in here to add or manage children, review progress, change school years, manage Word Packs, recover a player's sign-in, transfer or delete data, or manage billing. This door does not sign a child in to play.

The four identity terms

TermWhat it does
Private sign-in nameA generated, non-personal name used to begin player sign-in. It is for the family, not a public handle.
Setup phraseA one-time key created by the grown-up. It expires after seven days and is consumed when the child finishes first setup.
PasswordThe player's durable secret for signing in on any device. A forgotten password needs a grown-up.
Device PINAn optional four-digit lock for reopening that player's existing session on one device after ten minutes away. It is not an account password and never replaces one.

The first-player handoff

After adding a child, the grown-up can set them up on the same device, copy the private name and one-time phrase for another device, or print a setup card. The child then confirms their sign-in name, chooses a password, may add a Device PIN, and reaches Now Choose Your Egg. Choosing later is allowed; returning sign-in never replays this onboarding ceremony.

Why the steps are separate: the grown-up controls the family account and recovery; the child controls their player identity, password, optional local lock and first pet. Each screen introduces only the secret needed for that job.

Managing your family

The Family Account is where grown-ups review and manage players. There are two ways in: the Grown-Up Login door on the signed-out screen, or the For Grown-Ups door on a child's Me page. The second one is the everyday route: it keeps your child's session exactly as it is, asks for your grown-up password, and opens the Family Account on top. Your child's password or Device PIN never opens it.

Tapping a child opens Manage Player: their sign-in recovery, learning settings and Word Packs, with rare actions like moves and deletion folded away at the bottom. The slim Recent Activity strip at the top opens their full Progress page, with day-by-day play on a calendar. Progress is for looking; Manage Player is for changing.

When you're done, use Back. It returns you to wherever you came from: the exact screen your child was on, or the grown-up entry screen. You stay logged in as a grown-up unless you choose Sign Out in Account Settings.
